Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra attend the opening night performance of Eddie Fisher at the Cocoanut Grove, Hollywood, California. (1961)

  1. Actually, the Cocoanut Grove was adjoining the Ambassador Hotel, just east of downtown L.A., not in Hollywood. After being open from 1921-1985, it was demolished in 2005-6, to make room for a new public school complex.

I got to tour the mezzanine Green Room upstairs, where the Rat Pack would hang out between sets, and they had a secret view slot to view the performance going on, to see where the act on stage was, and thus enter right on cue.

Also saw the actual Presidential Suite, the ballroom, and the kitchen where RFK was assassinated.

    All gone now.
