And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Just about. Hope we all don't have to pay the price to educate them to the truth.
It has been said individuals can't rationally process their eventual demise or ceasing to exist without believing in a belief in an everlasting or eternal life. This apparently this innate trait transcends to the psychology of dealing with social constructs as well. The individual sees the ups & downs of the ideology and believes he or she will enjoy the benefits of the "cultural equality Nirvana" but be spared the accompanying discomfort of material deprivation.
