Cinque Terre, Italy

  1. Cinque Terra translates as Five Lands. Actually it is five towns along the the Italian Riviera. I have long wanted to sail along that coast.

    1. Correct, this one looks like Riomaggiorie. I spent 2 nights there as a young man backing packing Europe in the summer of '01.

  2. While we were exploring Tuscany on our own, we met some friends in Sestri Levante, Italy. They were on a separate Truffles and Chocolate guided tour. Dinner with them, stayed in their hotel, then grabbed the train down to the farthest of the Cinque Terre towns, this Riomaggiorie (in the picture). We explored the back alleys, had a great pizza while sitting on the curb. We watched an elderly lady drop of bucket of food scraps down onto the street for the feral cats swarming there. A regular event, I'll bet! Walked down to this little harbor, bought tickets from the boat back up the Cinque Terre chain of towns. The boat come to pick us up at the little gray rocky pier in the lower right corner of this picture! We enjoyed the boat ride back, past the nude beach and on to Sestri Levante. Since then (1997), we have put together many jigsaw puzzles with Riomaggiorie as the theme! A different world! We loved it.
