And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Yes, MiG-27, the ground attack variant of the MiG-23 fighter. Neither were very good planes. QA was a big problem, as always with the Soviets. They could go real fast in a straight line, though. US-built fighters have been used to shoot a lot of them for no losses.
Definitely the ground attack variant of the MiG-23/27. The nose is sharply sloped, with no air-intercept radar, giving the pilot better air-to-ground visibility.
All MiG-23/27's have a ventral stabilizer that folds up before landing. (That's part of the post-take-off and pre-landing checklists, so it is an identifier for this type of aircraft.)
