  1. Once you're over about 60K, you need to wear a space suit, or your blood boils and that's not desirable. I don't know what the mechanical ceiling for the lightning is, but likely over 60K.

    1. Operational ceiling was 60,000', but could zoom climb to 70,000'. Combat radius on a supersonic interceptor was a measly 135 miles, and that was with putting fuel bladders everywhere possible, including in the flaps!
