And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

This doesn't even touch on the ozone hole and acid rain hoaxes.
I was a Sophomore in HS with a skull full of mush and believed a lot of that crap when Earth Day rolled a round in '70. Luckily my boss at my PT job squared me away.
Ah, the ozone hole BS. A story I have heard is that DuPont was about to have some of their Freon patents expire so a hoax was created to make those compounds "dangerous" and therefore have them banned.
Politics gets "settled", science used to be tested and proven....or not.
