And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

If it survived the war, it probably would have been scrapped as it is an early model. The small tail and the lack of blisters indicates that this is probably a PBY-1 which was a pure flying boat with much weaker engines than its successors.
Based on the "0x32" Bureau Number on the tail, it was transferred from VJ-4 to VJ-16, and stricken 31 JAN 1944. http://www.joebaugher.com/navy_serials/secondseries1.html
