Below, the tool of a modern Viking (unbreakable handles are good - I hate it when I crack the handle over the helm of some howling Kelt or Sarmatian)
And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If you want unbreakable, check out some of the hawks at rmjtactical dot com. The also have some interesting field and carry knives.
ReplyDeleteI have that exact axe and I heartily endorse it. Used it to split almost 2 cords of green oak and it was kinda fun doing it. Kinda. Sure made me feel like a real outdoorsman. Get the fiskars edge sharpener, too.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I have whacked that handle real hard a few times. It was totally indifferent to the blows.
Yeah, Robert the Bruce had the same problem when he split open Henry de Bohun's head...
ReplyDeleteyou all can go a viking only after the crop is in. and find someone to mind the kids because she who must be obeyed will be going with you...
ReplyDeleteThe CRKT axe head is much to thick and slow to be a fighting axe, and that handle looks atrocious. The handle is easier to fix than the head.
ReplyDeleteThe Fiskars handle is tough, but far from unbreakable. When you break it, you're done. Far better a splitter that you can hang a new handle on.

I have a Halligan tool out in the garage that would put the fear of GOD herself into many a scotsman defender of the shores from the northmens scourge. modern metallurgy and design that never failed me in twenty five years service. Properly utilized it would be capable of opening any door or chest cavity one cared to put to the test.
ReplyDeletewe do not like fiberglass handles. prefer wood. a nice ash if you please. nice, dense, long straight grain. One needs standards for tools.
