And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Pre-civil rights, pre-Vietnam, pre-Kennedy, pre-Beatles... A time of real rock and roll. Fats Domino, Patsy Cline, Elvis, the Everly Brothers. A time of calm and plenty. Prosperous working class people. Exuberance, maybe. Near the peak of the American experience. Soon to be destroyed.
1956 freshman in high school.....me too sykes. Northern NJ. Those days when you still played full-on, anything goes dodge ball at gym time, didn't have a clue about the homeless, give back, cellphone, saving the planet shit. But gas was 24 cents a gallon and was dispensed through a carburetor not fuel-injection. Bench seats made for great carnal activity at the drive in. I wanna go back!
