And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
No date is visible on the letter, and it would be interesting to know more about the backstory there. Looks like a fair amount of pocket-wear on the bluing, but not bad for over 100 years old.
I always preferred shrouded hammers over the hammer-less, I think they're ugly too.
this weapon is similar in concept to the fabled M-67 Mark IV hand held grenade, with handgrip for those truly close quarters affairs. I understand we shipped a few to the Iranians before the Republican Guard took the embassy while the peanut boy fiddled around.
