And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

B-24D 42-41142, “THUNDERBIRD II”, 308th/375th Chengkung, China 1 Apr 44, the result of a runaway propeller, on takeoff, that cut into the flight deck.
the warning star with my name on the side went to DM with 27.6K flight hours on the clock. parts kept in close formation during the last flight with out issue. got there and drained all POL and sat with a case of Bud and watched a D8 Cat turn it into beer can fodder. a very fulfilling day it was.
By that point in the war a "D" model would have been worn out. Not unusual for parts to fall off a bird that war weary.---Ray
