Gems, precious metals and diamonds worth hundreds of millions rained over Russia’s coldest region when a Russian plane with ten tons of gold, platinum and diamonds lost a significant part of its cargo upon taking off from an airport in the Russian region of Yakutsk, famous for its rich natural resources and diamond deposits.
The precious rain then continued as the aircraft gained height. The plane then dropped some bars of gold as far as 26kms from the airport.
So there might just be a pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow in Russia on St. Patrick's Day? Cool!

That's not what I meant when I said "Spread the load, boys"
ReplyDeleteDossier 2018, another Russian golden shower!
ReplyDeleteThe load shifted on takeoff. I have a pocket reference called
ReplyDeleteThe Riggers Handbook in my tool box. The tie down straps could
not withstand the load plus G forces. One of the foremen I
used to work with was on a job to remove a heavy gear box at
a refinery. After he removed the long span coupling on a cooling
tower, he screwed an eyebolt into the end of the vertical output
shaft with the 20' propeller blades stil attached.
All went well until he removed the base bolts and signalled the
crane operator to make the lift. There was a stiff breeze that
day. It hit the propeller blades and unscrewed the eye bolt.
2,000 plus pounds of gearbox came smashing down from more than
50 feet.
From that day forward, Bob's new nickname was "Helicopter Bob."
When it comes to rigging, you cannot leave anything to chance!
All well and good Jones but the pic suggests a rat and a big one
ReplyDeleteIt would be just my luck to get a $1.2 million bar of gold through the head. I can hear the Devil and Darwin laughing from here...
