A division of California proposed.

"After years of over taxation, regulation, and mono-party politics the State of California and many of it’s 58 Counties have become ungovernable," the group said in a statement, citing a "decline in essential basic services" including education, law enforcement, infrastructure and health care.
The group, organized with a council of county representatives and various committees, hopes to model their split after the state of West Virginia.
Claiming the authority of Article 4, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution, the aspiring 51st state plans to convince California's Legislature to split the state before submitting the resolution to Congress.
The effort remains, to be clear, a long shot, but you've got to start somewhere.  I'd shave a lot more off some of those counties going to coastal Cali.  There's no way Sacramento county should not be in New California.  Many of the hyper progressives that live in the city would move to the coast anyway if the state split, improving things immensely for the rest of us.

  1. I kind of like the idea. Since the People's Republic Of California
is not a winner take all state, not much would change besides the
addition of 2 Republican Senators. While the legislature would
split, it would be a little harder to predict the impact.

If New California adopts the winner take all system, the new
state could pick up a number of new congressional seats. I
am a resident in this socialist hell-hole and I live in the
High Desert, so it is a win-win situation for me. The best
case scenario would be that the old state drives the coastal
region into bankruptcy, causing a flood of Californiaian's
and businesses to move East. The loss of revenues would
    accellerate the decline.

On the other hand, this may not be necessary. A recent survey of
California voters shows that 72 percent opposed sanctuary cities.
I do not think any recent polling on illegal immigration has ever
been taken. The citizens have not been this pissed off at a
sitting governor since Gay Doofus, and the current homosexual
    governors first two terms.

The people of this state are tired of high taxes, soaring property
prices, vehicle registration fees, etc. The natives are getting
restless and I can safely predict that our next governor will be
a Republican. I cannot predict how this will effect state and
federal legislative seats, but there will be fewer Democrats
in Sacramento and Washington after the November elections.

The 500 pound Gorilla in the room will be the "Trump effect."
This state elected Richard Nixon in two massive landslides. We
also elected Ronald Reagan to two terms as governor and two
more times as president in massive landslides. All six of
these elections were due to liberal overreach and blowback
against the violent "lunatic fringe," what we now call
barking moonbats during the Vietnam era. If anything, it
is much worse now than it was then!

    1. I'm with you, L.J, for all the reasons you stated.

San Diego County is still quite conservative, and of course we have several large military outposts here; but I do wonder- just recently there were some Syrians arriving as immigrants, near where I live. That was met with a huge welcome party from my neighbors, who seem to be delighted to have more "diversity." I guess the local MS-13 isn't enough for them.

Personally, I'd much prefer to help Syrians who stay in Syria. Their customs are not our customs, and I fear this will end badly for all concerned, but my neighbors are determined to have them here. This is more widespread than I'd like to see!

  2. San Jose (and Santa Clara County) needs to be in the Blue Area.

    1. Yep, trade that for Sacramento and Solano counties, and you got a much more representative state.

  3. Imagine how much fun it would be to sell coastal Californians water at $16.00/gallon.
