Cruise missiles are loaded under the wing of a B-52 Stratofortress

  5. When they're loaded onto a pylon like that the little wings are swung back along the fuselage to deploy after launch. They're folded tight along the body and when there's a good wind across them they thrum against the missile body. Makes a pretty good noise. I've had skycops that guarded them cocked on alert tell me that they called the sound the "Song of the ALCMs".

  6. imagine how many gps guided small diameter bombs a buff can haul to battle. lots and lots and lots. it does not even have to overfly the target
