Interesting thoughts on the performance of Turkish armor in Afrin.

  1. After the acknowledged loss of Leopard 2 tanks as soon as they entered the battle space, the Turks are holding their armor back, which could lead a cynic to ask what good are they, really?

  2. The weak point on the Leopard is the drive cog at the back of the tracks. An RPG can cripple it with a hit on that cog. Once the mobility has been taken away it can be picked apart with RPG's on the side pannels.

  3. Gee, it's not like they couldn't make their own Schürzen to go on their tanks. How weird. Seriously. Simple lattice or wire or plate spaced-armor would solve a bunch of problems, and could be made in the field.

Serious case of the 'Duh's' there, Mr. Turk.

  4. Part of the problem with using this excursion into Kurdish held areas is that the tanks are going into battle with little if any infantry support. The tanks are going into portable ATM range and getting the results that a experienced tanker knows what would happen. Smoking holes in tanks.

  5. sorta the battlecruiser of MBTs. sacrifice protection for speed. political ammo. shove the ministers into the breach who decided that depleted urainiun penetrater were politically incorrect. turks bought the tanks but not the tactics.
