And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? They tend to deploy near us for civil emergencies (hurricanes, floods, and such) and they are a rare treat to spot. And yes, they have a unique noise signature. The Bass section of the rotary wing orchestra.
I live not far from the coast about 20 miles from MCAS New River. The different sound signatures from all the helos going over all the time are pretty distinctive- Huey's, Sea Stallions, Cobras, an occasional civilian Robinson, and in the past Chinooks (haven't seen them in a while). And the Osprey in nacelles forward mode do sound different. But I never get tired of hearing all of them! Funny how the frequency of the flights increases and altitude decreases in the summer when the young ladies are on the beach!
Two of the OV-22's flew over me last weekend, maybe 3000 ft above ground level. They are VERY noisy.
