And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've been following his methods since my shoulder injury 19 years ago. It works well with minimal hoeing. Now if I could keep those damned deer out of my yard...
I live in Texas and own this book, have implemented the ideas, but had limited success with some plantings. Spoke to the local gardening guru, he said Mel is/was a brilliant guy but be careful with this method in the warmer southern climes - it does not give enough depth to the soil to keep from searing the root systems. So I dug it up, removed the weed barrier at the bottom, dug another 6 inches down from the ground level, mixed some amendments with it, and reseated the box and all is better.
Does this method work with "weed" as well?
ReplyDeleteUsed to watch Mel a long time ago. Used "Square Foot Gardening" for many years.
