An inside look at what's happening in the Ukraine.

My "Aunt" is currently in Kiev, the capital city of the Ukraine, working in that beautiful country, and this morning sent me some pictures and commentary on what is going on there politically, as well as an example of the kind of medical care the Obama administration has in store for all us Americans.

I don't know how much you're seeing on the news, but here are a few pictures that one of our staff took.  Many people are REALLY unhappy with the government here because it operates for itself and its friends, not for the general public.  The people call their parliament, which is "rada" in Ukrainian, "zrada".  Zrada means "traitor".  That is a pretty accurate description.

 

Joining the EU would require a level of openness in government that this government doesn't want to allow.  Furthermore, it would probably demand the release of several people who are in prison for ONLY political reasons and some of those people are a real threat politically to the president, Yanokovich.  By the way, Yanokovich spent time in prison for rape when he was younger.  Isn't that nice?  

 

I wish I thought our leadership was a lot better, but I'm afraid that they're not many steps behind.  As some wise person said, "People get the government they deserve."

 

My roommate fell, broke her elbow and will be having surgery Tuesday so will go into the hospital Monday.  She did this last Monday and it's taken this long for the medical community to get her in for surgery!  Unbelievable!!!  It's been a tough week for her.  Fortunately, I'm healthy and well.  I haven't had a cold or flu since I've been here - Slava Boga! (Thank God)!
