And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Ornaments from the 50's
This is what i saw on the tree in my childhood, and I still have a few that have come down through the years on our tree right now. That's a good thing.
About 1/2 our tree are old glass ornaments. When mom passes (not anytime soon I hope) I'll have enough if those for 2 trees would be my guess. The wife and I both love them.
My parents owned a nursery/gift store when I was a kid and they went all out at Christmas. I would spend hours bringing all manner of these glass ornaments from storage to put out for sale. We still hang them on our tree every year and some still even have the old price tags on them. Great memory trigger CW!
We had those too. They were sturdy - lasted forever.
ReplyDeleteStill have a few of those. Some of the 'silver' ones have tarnish spots on them, but we still put them on the tree!
