Sequoia Country

  1. Pictures don't do justice to the majesty of these trees.
You have to stand in front of them to really appreciate how massive they are.

  2. Not possible in real life. Light on trees indicates the Sun is to the left, and the center of a rainforest arc is always opposite the location of the Sun. Pretty colors, though.

  3. Was just there.
Two and half days driving through sequoias and redwoods.
    Simply spectacular.
    Upcoming post.

I'm going back if possible late summer, spending a week or so, and taking a fishing rod.

  4. Grew up in the south Bay Area and spent many many days and weekends at Big Basin. Imagine a bunch of Cub Scouts racing fifty yards along downed trunks that, lying flat on the ground, were still three times our height. Fantastic memories. On the last campout before we moved, there were 20 Boy Scouts and adult leaders grasping hands in a big circle around one of the really big standing trees. We were at full extension and it took all of us to fully encircle the tree. Wish I still had that photo.
An old-growth redwood grove is like nothing else. Truly, God's own temple on earth.
