If you look at the population distribution, it's a big "H" following the Oregon Trail to California, and then all the way from San Diego to Vancouver. They've been reported in British Columbia and Quebec in recent years.
They sometimes kind of hiss. They will also sull up or as the term goes play possum. Pretend to be dead. They rarely have rabies unlike raccoons. Eastwood
