And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
A reasonable effort. Want to make it an A++? Same bench exactly, but lay hardwood flooring on the top - oak works, but this small you can use an exotic, too. Refinishable, and it can live in the dining room as well as the shop. I've built 9 or 10 that way. Do a good job with the base cabinets and you've got an heirloom.
I got about 200 square feet of rock maple flooring from a bowling alley that was torn down in Indianapolis but it was only about 1-1/2" thick and required extensive milling to get to useable shape.
Handsome and warm.
ReplyDeleteYou do have some room to spread out!

ReplyDeleteYes, I can envision "hardwood" laid out across the top. Carpet would also work in dire circumstances...
DeleteMy bench is made from very old bowling alley lanes that I bowled on many times. Got a couple of lanes before they took the rest to the dump.
