Imagine the wood smell in there

  2. People used to comment on the wonderful smell of my shop. We ran maybe 10,000 feet of white pine and 30,000 feet of SPF every year, and I couldn't smell any of it unless the temperature or humidity changed or unless we got a unit of something sour or an unusual mix in one of the SPF units, maybe a little Ponderosa Pine or a North species spruce. Occasionally a little linseed oil, if something was going to sit in the shop for a couple of weeks in the summer we'd coat the end cuts to keep them from checking. I miss that shop and handling the lumber.
