And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Yes, it's Ouray, looking north towards out of town. There's no place just like that place anywhere near that place, so that is the place. Water ice climbing in the winter, mountain climbing in the summer. Lots of good times and memories. It's a small mountain town, so if you live there you're involved in small-town politics.
Lived there for a while. Beautiful place. CW McCall (Bill Fries) of "Convoy" was mayor once upon a time; "True Grit" (John Wayne) was filmed in the area. Lately filled with "them" (bluesies).
I remember swimming in the municipal 'hot springs' pool back in the early 70's. The hot water came in through a giant pipe at the end, which was roped off because of its extreme temperature. Neat place.
Looks like a potential flood zone.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get enough rain to make a flood. And when the snow melts, it runs off behind the town in the creek bed.
DeleteIt's Ouray. Magic place.

ReplyDeleteAnd the kids can play outside, only coming home when the streetlights turn on.
