And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Seems they will be only electric made by Volkswagon. Extended range version has a gasoline generator to charge the battery. How does that even make sense?
A hybrid uses the gasoline engine to drive the wheels along with the electric motors. This Scout is like putting a generator in the back of your cybertruck to charge the batteries. Ridiculous idea.
Nothing ridiculous, it's how ever modern train engine works. There are major advantages to electric motors. Edison Motors in Canada is making semi-trucks with generators to keep the batteries topped off, you can use smaller and much more efficient generators that way while having as much or more power to the wheels as you would get from a standard mechanical drive.
Man, I remember sitting in the back of my uncle's Buick Riviera boattail on "vacation", baking in the Florida sun as he drove me and my chain smoking aunt around. Felt like getting seasick.
I do have a deposit on one of the new Scout Traveler electric and gas hybrids. For only $100 it may be worth seeing how they turn out and getting on the build list. Maybe at worst I can sell the build slot like people do with boats.
I had a 78 Long wheel base Scout Traveller. I liked the size and the ability to to drive over anything. It was less nice on the highway we 33 inch tires. The gas mileage sucked and it always ran like 1970’s pollution controls. The timing curve was always retarded. The cam was also detuned and there were air pumps and other junk to imasculate its manhood like all late 70’s cars. I ripped off as much as possible, but the lobotomy was too deep. It was like a horny young boy on prosaic frustrated with a limp dick. It had all the modern boy things to make it a mass killer. Disapproved by all, no dick and a wounded dog life.
A beautiful selection, you can see the creator's fingerprint in all of them.
On a slightly less reverent note. Number two with the orange pickup, somehow that reminded me of Russ Meyer's images of Kitten Natividad. Hey, I'm an old man and entitled to remember things like that.
Gladly not on a road today, good set for armchair trips
ReplyDeleteNice collection.
ReplyDeleteIn two years, you can buy the "new" Scout that will be manufactured in Blythewood, SC. Mid-sized SUV or pickup.

DeleteI love Scouts. I have a '75.

DeleteIt’s called a hybrid.

DeleteSo trains run off batteries now? That's a good one. Semi's running on batteries is also ridiculous.
DeleteLocomotives are driven by electric motors. All of the racket you hear is diesel generators making electricity for the motors.
DeleteJust beautiful and awesome. Thank you for the submission CW !
ReplyDeleteBeautifully stunning. Thank you for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the one with the dog.
ReplyDelete#1: at those speeds, before you realize it, whatever happened isn't even a memory.

I believe they are all electric. Not a hybrid.

DeleteAll electric drive. not a hybrid. Gas engine charges batteries. No added HP. Just added weight for fuel ,engine, and generator. Ridiculous idea.
DeleteI like the ones with the gas engines.
