Flathead Lake in Montana is among the clearest water on Earth.

  1. ,but it has some horrendous parasites on the western shore area that give swimmers real itchy problems. Here, swimmer’s itch, officially known as cercarial dematitis, is caused by an immune system response to the penetration of human skin by parasites known as blood flukes.

Funny, got a Flat Head lake about 3 miles up thru national forrest from me, its a mountain lake, spring fed, North Sandwich NH, has some monster native brook trout, the old lady and me go up, catch a fish or two, build a fire and have a picnic, its an easy hike, rarely anyone hoofs it up there, so its kind of secluded and untouched.
