And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If I'm not mistaken (or dottering) that's a Lotus Cortina Mark I Ford 1600 with a Colin Chapman/Lotus Twin Cam head and dual Sewer-Pipe (40mm?) side-draft webers...
Plus "cop shocks, cop brakes, cop battery (in the trunk)". Apologies to Elwood Blues.
Lotus Cortina Mk 1 made '63-66. Engine tuned by Duckworth (who partnered with Costin to create Cosworth a few years later) and lots of aluminium parts. Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart won in them.
Edinburgh City police had one on trial in the sixties. They didn't keep it because it was so temperamental that they couldn't keep it in tune for a full shift . . . And the seats weren't up to the hammering they got from coppers' arses!
Simca???
