  1. If I'm not mistaken (or dottering) that's a Lotus Cortina Mark I
Ford 1600 with a Colin Chapman/Lotus Twin Cam head and dual Sewer-Pipe (40mm?) side-draft webers...

Plus "cop shocks, cop brakes, cop battery (in the trunk)". Apologies to Elwood Blues.

  2. Lotus Cortina Mk 1 made '63-66. Engine tuned by Duckworth (who partnered with Costin to create Cosworth a few years later) and lots of aluminium parts. Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart won in them.

  3. Edinburgh City police had one on trial in the sixties. They didn't keep it because it was so temperamental that they couldn't keep it in tune for a full shift . . . And the seats weren't up to the hammering they got from coppers' arses!

  4. You can watch them go toe to toe with similar vintage Minis and Falcons on Goodwood's youtube channel.

  5. Ford Cortina! I had a neighbor in Miami in the 60's that loved them, had several that he raced.
