And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It’s a very nice stove/“system” (@Anon 06:29 ...funny how marketing and sales drive our perceptions).Despite excellent reviews..$168?…no, unless I’m doing a thru-hike. For less than $10 each got a couple little pocket ones (Chinesium Temu-style MSR knockoffs), and they work just fine when needed and handy to toss in the go-bag or console.
Remember Svea stoves? I had one when I was a kid and loved it. Fantastic quality. I was amazed to see that they're still making them, and that Amazon is selling them.
I still have mine that I bought new in ‘83 for a cross country bicycle trip. Great stove. Drain leftover gasoline out of hoses to fill the tank would be enough to make dinner at night and still have enough fuel to make coffee in the morning.
I lost mine in a wildfire in '94, but I think I might still have the key rattling around somewhere. :-) I'll have to see if I can find it.
I think I bought mine in the late '60s, when I was still in high school. It helped me see the awesome places of California, back when you didn't need a permit to hike the Desolation Wilderness.
----mine from REI fer 10 bucks in 1970-still got it-roaring noisy little bastard; it works! better to use nesbit (or similar heat tablets)---no stove or other devices needed-
I bought mine from REI in Bezerkley on University Avenue, I think it was. I was trying to remember what I paid for it and couldn't come up with the dollar amount. But I knew it was less than twenty bucks.
It's not a stove. It's a "Camping and backpacking stove cooking system".

ReplyDeleteMy MSR Pocket Rocket is more than 20 years old and I use it every week or 2.
DeleteThat jetboil nonsense is what soy boys claim to use, but never leave the basement. Too BIG and too heavy and too expensive.
