  2. I bought a Thorens TD 124 at a garage sale for a dollar. Still in the original box. Differant plinth though. Sold it for over 700 bucks on ebay probably 10 years ago. Now they go for over 2 grand.

  3. Just wanted to say that I love these audio posts. And, a TD 124 for a dollar? I'm jealous. I spent several years going to garage sales and checking Audio Sales sites looking for a Thorens of any type, or something similar, for my son. Finally told my wife I was giving up, and, on my last day, found a TD 166 in mint condition for $100(obviously nothing like a TD 124). The dustcover was perfect. The woman told me it had "hardly ever been played." My son has had it for more than 10 years. Anyway--keep it up with these posts.

  4. I sold my TD124 on Ebay some years back. I think I got $400. It was starting to corrode and was not really usable. Needed a new motor and lots of work. I owned it since nearly new. It really was not a great turntable. Heavy platter, but the rubber disk drive produced some rumble. I replaced it with a Technics 1210 MK5. Much happier.

    1. That is however, a very, very nice audio setup. Something quite spectacular about vintage high end equipment.
