  2. Treating barrels that will be used to age whiskey. My guess would be bourbon in Kentucky.

  3. This is usually done by one man, and one barrel at a time, because of the skill required. It is a major step in the process, and will have a significant impact on the taste. The bourbon will sit ("age") for many years, so it has to be done right.

  4. My uncle had a kitchen table & chairs made from whiskey barrels, black leather with glass top. The ugliest thing you've ever seen. Smelled like a house fire & whiskey.

  6. Some varieties of white wine in French oak. Some varieties of red wine in American oak. Also for bourbon as already mentioned.

    I see John gets it.

  7. My girl friend way back when introduced me to wine. I took it up a step, I got hired on at a winery. On occasion we charred new oak barrels.
