USA Made, and pretty much unbreakable

  1. I thought so too, until I managed to break one. A dear friend very carefully and skillfully welded it back together for me; it is in service to this day, and I have acquired several more in my travels. A wonderful tool.

  2. I like Estwing wood splitting tools... I've very nearly beaten one to death but I think it will outlast me when all is said and done.

  3. I won't go near those Estwing hatchets. The narrow steel throat is basically a dull knife. One slip and you are going to darn near sever a finger. I'll stick with a hatchet with a good hickory handle. If I slip, it will hurt like hell, but I'll still have all my fingers.

    1. Or, operator error! Don't blame the tool.

  4. Too thin of a blade for my liking.
Good for chopping, not so good for splitting.
