Just bought a similar set at Ace and paid more. Needed that Torx head bit, and it worked really well, rammed the wood screws into my boards with authority.

  1. I have the Bosch impact version. I actually only use a couple of the pieces regularly, but the assortment is there for those rare occasions. Having a set onhand is worth the investment.

  2. The manufacturers count on the reasoning that the set is worth having on hand. Individual bits are 3 for a couple bucks, but this way they can get you to pay 5-8 bucks each for the 3 you'll actually use, and the rest wind up at garage sales, unused and a bit rusty.

  4. I usually wear out one T-25 about every month. I carry a few impact bits in my pocket at all times; T-20, T-25, T-30, T-40, #2 Phillips, #3 Phillips, 1/4” & 5/16” sockets. Goats can be a bit rough on things and pretty much every day I find the impact driver in my hand and a need to tweak some kind of screw in a structure on the ranch. During the builds, I frequently used a collated screw gun where only Phillips screws were available. I haven’t used my square-drive collated screw gun in a while so I stopped carrying those bits. Roofing screws with attached washers are handy for putting up hardware cloth and they come in 1/4” or 5/16”. The larger Torx bits are useful for GRK structural lag screws, which are expensive, but very good and re-usable.
