And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Easy now, easy now. This a courtin', not a donnybrook. Have the good manners not to hit the man until he's your husband and until he can hit you back. RetRsvMike
On a few occasions I visited the village of Cong in county Mayo where the Quiet Man pub scene in the movie was filmed. (Even then it was not a pub). I had a few expensive pints in Ashford castle/hotel nearby were The Duke and the crew stayed while filming, but the cottage is located somewhere in Connemara County Galway. That was back in the 1970s. Ireland has changed a lot in 50 years.
Probably drinkin' buddies in real life, I could imagine those two laughing it up making trouble. She could handle a whole room full of guys and have them all doting on her, drunker than skunks, partying all night.
This movie is one of the reasons I never got married. Not because it soured me on the idea of matrimony, but because I couldn't a real life Mary Kate Dannaher.
