    1. WOW, what a sleek bird! (some research) Built in '34 for a race! 1st British aircraft to incorporate all the modern, high speed materials and techniques. Apparently, didn't get upgraded for war.

  2. Over 25% of its take-off weight was fuel and it couldn't carry cargo or passengers. The airplane that came second in the England to Australia race was a DC-2 belonging to KLM that was carrying passengers.
