  2. Looks like a "Partscaster" and almost too pretty to be a Fender.

OTOH, the best sounding guitars look like the never get put down.

Take a look at Telecaster Master Blaster Danny Gatton's battered 1953 Tele.

"This is Danny Gatton’s 1953 Fender Telecaster. Danny installed the Joe Barden pickups and also had Willie Nelson and Roger Miller sign the top. The guitar was displayed by Heritage Auctions..."

  3. Here's another classic and battered Tele, the late , great Clarence White's, also fitted with the first "B String Bender.

"...Country archivist and musician Marty Stuart has been the keeper of Clarence White’s famous Telecaster since the 1980s – he tells us all about how he came to own what he calls “The greatest Telecaster in the world…”

    1. I never saw music as some kind of competitive sport.

There are just too many. "greats" to just pick one.

The real action in guitar current vintage guitar picking is down Nashville way, where total monsters like Bret Mason, Guthrie Trapp, Josh "Guitarzan" Smith, Tom "Uncle Larry " Bukovac and dozens of other magicians dazzle in bars all up & down Broadway when they're not making today's C&W stars sound great.
