  1. I heard it on Ward Carroll, "No gas, no glory."

  2. If the photo is color correct, why would the top of the planes be light (sky) blue? Wouldn't we want the bottoms that color for cover and concealment?

    1. They are not light blue, but referred to as military garbage can grey. There are articles published that describe why grey was chosen. Do some internet research on aircraft and camo paint choices.

    2. Paint color never provides cover. Cover is physical protection from projectiles such as bullets and rockets. Things like armor plate, big rocks and trees.

  3. I was in the interview process for a pilot position at the Robbins Air Guard on the B1B when they lost the mission transitioning to the JSTARS. They lost pilot and navigator positions. The position I was interviewing for went away.

    1. Guard units periodically change aircraft types...guess you just weren't interested in the E8s.

    2. The manning document drew down and they lost pilot and navigator positions. I would rather have flown a 707 as it would have translated better into a commercial flying job. BTW: The Wing had their JSTARS retired 2 years ago and their mission changed to Electronic Warfare resulting in fewer officer positions.

  4. In my opinion, the B-1 is one sleek aircraft.

    1. Thank you for your opinion. I think the X-3 was pretty sleek too.

    2. The X -3 was an underpowered hanger queen which the B1 is not, so often in the X-3 times development of engines was well behind airframes.

  5. Probably the finest pik you'll ever see of the Rockwell B-1B.
