And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In 1975 I bought a 1961 Les Paul Custom. White lacquer with gold hardware. As most know, that was the double-cutaway, SG style that Mr. Paul disliked, but the Gibson brass thought would compete better against Fender’s offerings. The neck was thin and sweet, it virtual played itself. I paid a whopping $400 for it and gave it to my best friend, partially to settle a debt and partially as a welcome home present when he returned to the US. What an axe that was.
