And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I used the M240 version of this the Army in the late 90s, but didn’t realize until reading the Wikipedia article just now that the original Mag 58 was a bastard child of the BAR and the MG42. I knew Dieudonne Saive at FN trained under Saint John Moses Browning, so I guess it makes sense, but still. Just proves that Browning was the firearms design equivalent of Edison or Einstein.
Lots of people cooperated to win WWII, but I've read that J. M. Browning was the most effective single contributor. M1911 & M1911Al, Browning Hi-Power, BAR, .30 and .50 machine guns, various shotguns, etc.
What Sam could’ve done with that!!!
ReplyDeleteBelt fed, what weapon?
