Viking sword, Piast dynasty helmet and spear head found in Lednica Lake (Poland). c. 9th century AD.

    1. Supposedly runes on the blade. But the helmet is Norman. Overall it is an eclectic collection form a dig that was used to make a photo for a poster advertising the exhibition.

    2. To complete the background for the story - there is this ages old settlement in Central Poland, on a small lake. And supposedly they had a tradition of thanking their gods by dumping trophies and other good stuff into the lake. And now archeologists have caught up with this idea and dug up hundreds of pieces from the bottom of the lake. The museum there has 8 swords alone, not counting other pieces, and not counting what private "collectors" found.
