  3. In Hutchinson Ks you can tour a salt mine. There is a museum down 600 feet. Strataca. https://underkansas.org/

  4. Just outside of Kansas City there is a salt mine that has been converted to warehousing and an import tax free zone.

  5. There is a book titled "Salt" it is a good read. During the Civil War a bag of salt would go for $50 as all the mines and surface sources were up north. The thing is that Avery Island, noted for growing a particularly spicy pepper was sitting on top of one of the biggest salt deposits. They just didn't know it, yet. If that discovery was made a few years earlier, the South might have been able to sue for peace from the North. Changing the course of history.
