  2. Albatross, one of Jimmy Buffets favorite

  3. Looks more like a Grumman G-21A turbo Goose. The wheel placement is more forward and the nose is shorter and rounder than the albatross.

  6. I assisted the RCMP when they rebuilt their Grumman Goose, it's a neat aircraft. This is a Goose that was modified by McKinnon. The two windshields with their arched tops are replaced with a single wraparound windshield and the radial engines are replaced with PT6 turboprops.
The Widgeon is the smallest Grumman amphibian, the Goose is next in size, then the Mallard and finally the Albatross. They're all similar in layout so they're easily confused from a distance.

  7. There was an old guy around here years ago, build anything, fix anything. He some how owned a PBY Catalina. Not a small plane. He used to land it on the local lake on w/e's to freak out the boaters.

  8. Antilles Airboats used Gooses from my hometown of Fajardo PR to St Thomas and St Croix. I flew them a number of times. Just the pilot so they would put a passenger in the other front seat. I always tried to get that one. Full set of controls but "Please don't touch anything"

It was the only seat that got beverage service. Sometimes the pilot would give me some coffee from his thermos.

Way cool. Only commercial plane I've ever co-piloted on.
