Crewmen stand on a VPB-1 PB2Y-3 on Seymour Island, the Galapagos, 1944
It's a Consolidated Aircraft Coronado. The Martin Mariner was a twin-engine, gull-wing aircraft. I can't find a reference, so I'm guessing that both used the ERCO ball turret in the nose.
Similar to the one that rescued the survivors of the USS Indianapolis.
ReplyDeletenot a PBY, is a Martin.
