And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The 1st one you freeze the bowl a day ahead of time and with the second one you add ice salt... But the first ad came with a suggestion of music to buy along with the ice cream maker! Gotta love Amazon...
Our summer vacation was with the relatives in NC, usually meant some hand turned ice cream- lemon served with real pound cake. a trip to the icehouse in ahoskie that smelled of amonia was part of the day.
My aunt and uncle had a hand cranked one, I remember one Thanksgiving I was cranking away for quite some time and it didn't seem to be getting any thicker, then we checked and noticed someone forgot to put in the paddle.
We have the Cruisinart stainless one, yeah freeze the bowl first. Wifey made vanilla soup the first outing. My new favorite is Ginger ice cream, recipe from NY Times.
We have the smaller (white) version of the first one and it works but...

ReplyDeleteIt ain't "nostalgic" if it don't have a manual crank. I pulled of lot of that duty as a young one. Worth every moment.
