  2. The 1st one you freeze the bowl a day ahead of time and with the second one you add ice salt...
    But the first ad came with a suggestion of music to buy along with the ice cream maker! Gotta love Amazon...

  3. Our summer vacation was with the relatives in NC, usually meant some hand turned ice cream- lemon served with real pound cake. a trip to the icehouse in ahoskie that smelled of amonia was part of the day.

  4. It ain't "nostalgic" if it don't have a manual crank. I pulled of lot of that duty as a young one. Worth every moment.

    1. My aunt and uncle had a hand cranked one, I remember one Thanksgiving I was cranking away for quite some time and it didn't seem to be getting any thicker, then we checked and noticed someone forgot to put in the paddle.

  5. We have the Cruisinart stainless one, yeah freeze the bowl first. Wifey made vanilla soup the first outing. My new favorite is
    Ginger ice cream, recipe from NY Times.
