And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Skeleton of the Irish Elk, The Museum of Liverpool, Merseyside
There's one of these in the Cleveland (Ohio) museum of natural history. It's enormous, dark, and menacing - and scared the daylights out of me when I was a little boy.
CIncinnati Airport has some incredible fossils and various skellital displays also. Elk and moose are part of the deer family. The red deer or europe have tremendous antlers that look much like North American elk. I also would like to know the link on this moose/elk beast. Quite impressive.
That would be a nice mount over the fireplace. It would, of course, have to be a massive fireplace in a very large home.
ReplyDeleteIrish elk?
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they tasted as good as the elk do nowadays?

ReplyDeletegreat museum.
DeleteMust have been one noble creature!
ReplyDeleteThey kinda need to put a quarter on the base there for size comparison.
ReplyDeleteYou'd never see the quarter - the spread on that rack is almost nine feet.
DeleteThose are moose paddles. I wonder if they DNA tested the remains and compared them to todays versions of moose and elk.
