And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Once upon a time I was working in a building with a lot of escalators (and deescalators) and discovered for myself that you should not wear bifocals on escalators I looked up the safety rules and they clearly speak to this issue. "Wear closed-toed and hard-soled shoes, and avoid wearing footwear made of soft-resin or other rubbery materials" https://www.schindler.com/en/about-us/safety/tips-for-riders-and-owners.html
Badly adjusted/ maintained escalator: the fingers are supposed to ride inside the grooves of the treads. Looks like these are on top of the ridges and show prior damage to the finger ends...
Yet another reason why wearing flip flops to take a flight is poor form.
