The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Since the use of globes went away, it's harder for people to appreciate the relative sizes of regions (Google Earth Pro helps). Do this sometime with Israel, overlaid on your local area. It is shocking just how small some of these important areas truly are.
When my daughter lived in Brussels she was two hours from London, two hours from Paris, and two hours from Amsterdam. Two hours, for me, puts me in Miles City, Bozeman, or Grass Range and I'm still solidly in Montana.
Two hours anywhere from me is a different climate. Still in the same state. Take two days to get to Washinton State from where I am. Take two hours to do it by air. Have a Merry Thanksgiving everyone and enjoy the turkey sandwiches for a while after. Heltau
