  2. I do. As far as I know, only Ducati still uses desmodromic valve actuation. Mercedes-Benz race cars in the '50s, and Benelli motorcycles had them as well. Valve springs have improved so much that using a second cam follower to close the valve is no longer necessary to prevent valve float at high rpm. The cam lobes in a desmodromic valve train have to be perfectly machined so the open and close followers move in synch.
