And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

1979: Steeplejack FRED DIBNAH takes down a MASSIVE chimney. Holy Cow! No way!
Even in the early 80s in Britain, during the worst economic post-war period the guy did the job practically for peanuts... But you have to respect his nerves and his work ethics!

ReplyDeleteFred was a cult figure over here. He was a bit of an eccentric, built a replica pithead in his back garden! I'm sure his wife still loved him dearly.
