Smoked this tri tip this afternoon on the Recteq. Feast later this evening.

  1. I could do with some of that but it's way too hot to do anything outside.

  2. A little over done. No juice , probably didn't let it rest before cutting. Looks good though.

  3. Funny, its hard to get tritip outside of California. We had an IGA up here in Northern Wisconsin that had tritip. But it closed and no one else sells that cut here. When I lived in Grass Valley every store had it.

    1. There is no problem getting tritip at a Publix here in the south east.

I used a Recteq at a cabin I rented. When my gas grill dies I am going to get the 410 model.

    2. The tritip cut was first introduced by local butchers at the Elk's rodeo in Santa Maria, CA.

While Santa Maria is in Santa Barbara County, the place has a closer affinity to the county immediately to the north which is San Luis Obispo. SLO CO is a 'cow county' since just before CA became a state.
      We know beef.

    3. Looks perfect to me.
There's always got to be a complainer in the crowd.
Usually a useless blob on the couch.

  5. I can get them here in NJ but I have to get the butcher to order a box full. They go quickly but they don’t order them again. Go figure.

  6. Anyone else here have a “Fred” a marinated black tritip sold by a butcher in Palo Alto? The one I had was fantastic.
