Go over the guard rail!

  1. And THAT"S why having cops stand on the shoulder of a highway with their back to oncoming traffic is REALLY stupid unless you have an awfully good reason to do it (writing a speeding ticket IS NOT WORTH SOMEONE"S LIFE!!!)

    1. yeh, just let 'em go like all the rest of the lawbreakers. we just can't let ANYTHING bad ever happen to anybody. sheesh. (slowing a speeder down might save a life somewhere else)

    2. Um, the "oncoming traffic" was 1/4 mile away, across a wide grassy median, and the reason the accident happened was because he panic-braked while speeding when he saw the cop's lights, causing his loss of control.

This is simply an argument for a solid concrete K-rail down the median, to keep idiots like that on their own side of the highway.
He was a total moron, and nearly killed at least three people, including himself, purely because of his own incompetence behind the wheel.
That should be criminal reckless driving, if not attempted homicide.

  2. Officer was in the best possible position. I hope the people in the two vehicles were not badly injured.

  3. Cop should go buy a lottery ticket.
And yes, a dive over the guardrail would have been a better choice.

    1. No, both cars are BMWs. Which seems about right. More money than sense or skill.

    2. I drove a Beemer for 200,000 miles. It was my all-time most favorite car. If you don't know what you are doing, it can get away from you.

  5. That fat slob, weighed down in full battle rattle wasn't clearing that guard rail without a jato assist.

  6. Neither car missed him by much.
Way I see it, the speeding driver came around the curve and saw the cop cars flashers and hit the brakes too hard at just the wrong time.
That boy is going to jail!

    1. indeed, foolish to travel at excessive speed when road ahead isn't clear.

  7. This is why those wires run down the median. Pretty much eliminates crossovers, pain in the butt that they are if you need to get turned around. And yeah, the cop broke rule 1: always know your fastest way out. To be sure, the cop was being fairly careful, and he didn't have a lot of time to react.

    1. The guardrail was the closest safety. The next best was running the way the car was pointing.

  12. I used to drive that road daily for too many years. It is an off camber sweeper that gets more difficult at speed-especially in the wet. Looks like the rear was going to catch the grass, he tightened up and caused over steer. Maybe he had worn tires. Driver realized he lost it then put on front brakes (see tire smoke from fronts). When this happens this will lock the car in the direction of the skid- the road begins to open up at that point- had he not panicked and waited a bit more he would have just skidded further down the road- not off it

  13. The .gov itself has documented that when cops go "on strike" and the public realizes they have stopped writing speeding tickets, the roads get SAFER. This has been seen EVERY TIME it happens. Accidents, injuries, and deaths all drop, and remain lower until the cops go back to stopping vehicles, which is when it all returns to "normal".
